Introduction to GoToMyAccounts Gen IV
Introduction GoToMyAccounts Gen IV is a major release, hence the increment to the generation number (four). A full year of work has gone into this release. Several issues that made user management difficult have been addressed and resolved. Lots of old legacy code has been rewritten and refined. The speed of the application has been greatly improved with new caching mechanisms.
Billing Automation Changes in GTMA IV
The Automations tab no longer exists in GTMA IV. This is due to the way that automation and notifications works. All customer users have the ability of receiving billing notifications. On the users tab, the last option in the user grid is to enable or disable billing notifications. By default, this will be enabled. If you don't want the user to receive billing notifications, just toggle the feature off by clicking it. The other Billing Automation options (enable/disable/pause) are available at
What happened to QuickBooks Payments ACH?
We are still supporting QuickBooks Payments ACH. It is just temporarily disabled for a few days. There were integration adjustments that needed to be made prior to the new release. The ACH method just wasn't fully completed when it was time to release. It should be back though in just a 2-3 days.
How to enable or disable customers in GTMA IV
This short screencast primer will walk you through enabling or disabling customer accounts in the new GoToMyAccounts Gen IV edition.
I have a customer user who cannot login after the GTMA IV release
If you have a user who is having difficulty logging in after the GTMA IV release, a likely cause may be that a duplicate record exists in the user database. When the user requests a password reset, it may be resetting the duplicated account rather than the one intended.
The New Customer/User Account Schema
How customer/user management worked previously Prior to GTMA IV, each portal customer account was bound to a single primary user account. That is, there was one user login account and it was associated to a single customer. Secondary users could be created for a customer, but these had to be unique and could not be duplicated across customer accounts. This created some major issues for larger portals where the same user owned or managed several customer accounts. Given that the login email

Possibility of a duplicated customer user
The possibility of there being a duplicated customer user exists at the time of this article being published. Checks for this condition were made and a few accounts were seen to have some duplicates. This likely occurred in the past and it was not caught by some older legacy code. In most cases, one or more of the records were marked as "deleted", but still physically exist in order to preserve actual user info when displayed in logs, etc. In these cases, one of the user accounts is the "real"
Suspending customer users
Because any customer user in the portal can potentially have access to any customer (if granted access), we do not suspend users globally. If you no longer wish for a customer to be able to access one or more customers, just remove their access to those customers. If a customer user has no access to any customers, their login will fail stating they do not currently have access to any accounts. Later on, the plan is to create a suspend feature specific to customers. But for now, effectively you
